What is the Heineken Big Top?

Located on the University of Galway campus across from the Galway Cathedral, the Heineken Big Top at Fisheries Field, University of Galway is now a famous landmark for the Festival. With a vibrant outdoor vibe, a bar, and lots of room to dance and mingle, this is one of the more popular music spots for the Festival.

This venue is a large field with a large tent and most events held here are standing only. There are 3-4 food and drink venders, a Heineken bar, and portable toilets; see below for full accessibility information.

What items are prohibited at the Heineken Big Top?

Bottles, umbrellas, portable chairs, weapons, alcohol.

Car parking is available in nearby city car parks.

The nearest car park is in Cathedral Square near the Galway Cathedral, which is walking distance from Fisheries Field. This car park is open 24 hours.

Accessibility and seating: wheelchair accessible, dedicated accessible raised ramp (please note the area can be reserved for people with mobility issues through our box office). Please contact the box office in advance
Disabled Parking Spots: Cathedral Square car park (3), disabled parking on University of Galway campus is marked in the following map: parking locations map and blue badge owners can park anywhere on campus.
Toilets: accessible toilet is located at the rear of the Big Top. GIAF volunteers are on hand to facilitate entrance to the accessibility area.
